A beginner (newbie, noob) is a person who has recently started engaging with some topic; in the context of cryptocurrencies the term is used for those who are only getting acquainted with the industry or have come to a specialized forum or community for the first time. The term describes a level of experience rather than a person's personal qualities and is neutral in itself.
At the start, beginners usually lack an understanding of basic concepts: what a blockchain, a wallet, a private key, an exchange and a transaction fee are. Because of this they more often make mistakes — for example, they confuse addresses, fail to back up their keys or are careless about security.
